Our guests, 43 altogether, arrived in Hungary on 23 May. We hosted 23 teachers and 20 students. First, we explored a slice of Budapest, sightseeing in a ship, walking in the Castle District, a miraculous playground. After a long night bus journey and a short sleep we „attacked” the Gyula Castle with a tiny group of 60 people. After the historic trip, we entered the world of Hungarian foods. Parents from the host families treated our guests with traditional Hungarian dishes.
After a visit in the kindergarten and the school, our guests got on a sightseeing train (Dotto) and refreshed themselves in our spa, Gyopárosfürdő. On Tuesday, our guests had altogether 10 lessons, mini lectures showing their countries to our students. The guest students visited the local museum where they baked the traditional „Orosháza” bread. In the afternoon they got their loaves from the lady in the museum.
On Tuesday afternoon the two-year-long project arrived at its end. The students and teachers of the school arranged a dance performance learning dances of all of the countries. The representatives of the partner schools also evaluated the project. Nice memories, trips, discussions, meetings and saying goodbye events, new friendships came one after another.
The highlight of the event happened in the main square of the town, where every guest, student, teacher, host student sent his/her wishes, joy and messages on a piece of paper flown into the air by a balloon over the clouds.
After having dinner in the schoolyard we said goodbye to each other among tears. The Hungarian School wall keeps a memory of the event with the signature of the participants. May God bless everybody! J
