A visit in Poland
From the 8th-12th December the participants of the Comenius group had the opportunity to meet in Poland, fulfilling the aims of the project.
First, we visited the 'Undeground Museum" in Cracow, where teachers and students got to know the stories related with the beginning of the Polish trade and its international connections. Then the tour guide took us for a trip around the city and we were knowledgeable about the stories of Wawel Castle, St. Mary's Church, Jagielloński University and other historical monuments.
The next day after doing some sightseeing in Krakow and Oświecim the whole group went to the Silesian restaurant in Rybnik to meet with the Polish headmistress and teachers and have a common dinner. Students were taken to host families in Czerwionka-Leszczyny.The next two days we spent in our school in Czuchów.
The Polish students welcomed the foreign guests at the 'Welcome Ceremony" on Monday. We visited school classroom and laboratories, had project meetings, exchanged suitaceses and saw the local "Regional Chamber" where we learnt the stories related to the local coal mine.
Our Polish teachers prepared lessons for foreign students and reversely the teachers from project countries performed lessons for the Polish children, which was
a marvellous and unforgettable experience. On Tuesday in the presence of the school board and local mayor we took part in the regional evening, listening to the traditional Polish and Silesian songs, watching the 'Christmas performance' and a regional dance. What is more, our guests had the chance to try typical Silesian specialities during the regional dinner.
The visit of our friends from Finland, Sweden, Italy, Belgium, Hungary and Turkey was a memorable event for our school community. It was possible to read about this event in local newspapers: "Kurier" and http://www.enaszemiasto.pl/text/437/comenius-connecting-people.htm
